Instagram account @yamaguchiatsuko5 documents an individual and community’s volunteer care of 27 cats who were left to fend for themselves when their owner died and the care of the house collapsed in Chiba, Japan.
Currently, 6 of them await adoption from the Chiba Prefecture Animal Welfare Center.
The cats seem to love living in this community – my favourite cat rolls around for cuddles every time the volunteer visits to feed them.
I wanted to contribute to this local initiative that ensured these cats were not taken in by local government and potentially destroyed. I hope this will keep their teeth health and prevent dental costs for the volunteer.
